Art as Therapy Classes in Brisbane

Art as Therapy Classes in Brisbane

Art is considered by many as therapy for the soul. The Lilly-Lee Gallery in Brisbane provides an environment for stress relief and social interaction, a place to expand self-expression, gain self-esteem and receive technical advice. Many students use art classes as a means to relieve the stress of everyday life, an escape from work-related worries, or temporary getaway from the busy family life. They immerse themselves into a relaxing, creative atmosphere and learn something new.

The tenets of art therapy involve humanity, creativity, reconciling emotional conflicts, fostering self awareness and personal growth. Through creating and reflecting on the art processes, people can increase awareness of self and others, cope with stress and traumatic experiences; enhance their creative abilities and enjoy the life-affirming pleasures of making art.

Art and Disability

A few students with physical disabilities have found Lilly-Lee classes to be an excellent social and creative outlet. However, as the classes are designed for independent creative process and self-expression, it is important that all the students are able to work independently, such as use and clean art tools, operate electrical equipment, use the amenities, otherwise a carer or a family member is required to be present during the class. Please contact us and make a short appointment to discuss the suitability of our classes before booking a class.
