New Zealand Natural Stonemats

Individually crafted by a small team of stoneweavers who harvest this wonderful resource from the rugged west coast of the South Island, New Zealand.

The stone is moved down the many rivers flowing from the Southern Alps to the Tasman Sea. They are carried the length of the West Coast by the northerly drift, tumbling and polishing as they travel - some as far as 300 kilometres.

Stonemats New Zealand are fortunate to have government consent to harvest some from one of the few beaches where this occurs. The Stone mats are individually hand crafted making each one a distinctive mix of both man and nature’s art and engineering.
